MFB press launch

Tuesday, March 27, 2007
Last week we went to a press launch of our client's new spokesperson. I wasn't that much of a willing participant because there wasn't any free food involved. But then I'd be ogling a famous Hong Kong actress from mere inches away. In the end, lust won.

I've never heard of this little Thai restaurant/pub before this event. It's... cosy (the diplomatic version of small). And that's about it. I didn't develop any sudden urge to come back again in the near future to order half the stuff on their menu. Anyways after 2 Bangkok trips I think it'll be hard to get me excited about Thai food in Malaysia.

Bernice Liu looked right into my eyes and smiled. And I almost collapsed from shaky knees. She's so hot! And her Canadian accent is so endearing! But nothing beats British accent-lah. Poshness to the max. No I'm not saying it because I got my UK Working Holiday visa.

I'm saying it's one of the major reason I wanted to get my visa in the first place.
And now, lao-niang is GOING TO LONDON IN JUNE, bucks and bitches!
*head bang to a Mika song - because they make me happy*

Luna Bar looking fun even in broad daylight. It's right upstairs our launch event and the maintenance guy was kind enough to let us in (must be my cleavage). So THIS is what Luna Bar looks like. Heard plenty about it but haven't been. Very nice concept but... cosy. Pubs with a pool and possible bikini-clad hot mommas splashing water at each other while giggling should make it a point to cram in more tables and chairs. Around the pool. And binoculars for seats further away.

Lunch was an explosive affair at Chilli's Bangsar. Why explosive? As usual, we ordered too much food. And I was determined to break my 7-glasses-of-bottomless-tomato-juice record. Only managed 5 though. But we only had an hour for lunch so I guess that's still some achievement. I stopped when my jeans buttons almost shot out and kill Aggy across the table.

KFC moments

Friday, March 23, 2007
What is your KFC moment?

Is it full of cheer (Angie) and good spirit (Sonia)?

Or is it always filled with surprises (Maria) and the unexpected (Gab)?

Does it make you want to take a different approach and view to life (and food)?

Wherever we end up, long lunch on Fridays is my favourite bonding time with my bunch of lovely colleagues. And this week we graced KFC with our crazy antics and hyena laughter. And of course, Gab's excellent demonstration of, uhh, that.

Having colleagues that are also good friends is definitely worth more than what money can buy.

And realising that was my KFC moment today. (I so should get paid for this post)

weddings

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

Four weddings down for 2007. And it's not even the end of March. Wassup with you people? Year of Pig very auspicious to pinch your friends' and relatives' hard-earned sweat and blood money is it? Siiiigh. No, no. I'm not upset you're married and I'm still single, I see plenty of me around at the dinners. And we're happy me's too, mind you. I'm upset when you send the wedding invite to my hometown address and get my mum upset. And when she's upset why I'm nice to children and old people and kind to animals and financially sound but single, she'll say, "Must be you're too fat-lah, can you please don't eat so much!" and I'll get upset.

When you're almost 28, being single can never be BY CHOICE anymore?

But to my married (and marrying) friends, may you stay married long long time! And have sex legally and make plenty cute pinchable babies and so on so forth.

random thoughts on music

Thursday, March 15, 2007
Thanks to Leo who introduced me to the wonderful (and speedy) downloading world of Azureus, I can now access album upon album of wondrous music from all over the world. eMule is one slow-moving ass and should be banished from the face of the universe. Hmm the same should be said regarding illegal downloads, but...

Listening to one new album a day makes the Ogress one contented monstrosity. And it's very crucial because I cannot find contentment in sleeping hours nor making music with the band these days. My most precious finds of the past 2 weeks are:

The Gossip. Very interesting bandmembers. Very yummy drummer. Listen Up! is fantabulous. How do they make simple music arrangement sound soooo good? Hmm I like my fair share of cowbells from time to time.

Lily Allen has the most delectably enchanting British accent. And boppy tunes I can't categorise. I'd say it's airy, cool ska-pop with garage beats. In layman terms, her music makes me happy. And want to go live in England and cycle around town in a yellow sundress and red flip-flops. My favourite song is Littlest Things. Check out the piano riff from the 70's French softporn movie Emmanuelle (thanks for the background info, oh Si king of google and wikipedia). Faster go see the beautiful Sylvia Kristel on youtube!

Now that the The Wreckers is born, we can see and hear more of the gorgeous Michelle Branch. Good ole' country pop that makes long drives and lousy traffic conditions bearable. Just what KL-ites need. No favourite song because the music's almost the same.

the baby

Wednesday, March 14, 2007
Everybody, welcome The Baby to Earth. She's born two days ago to the prettiest girl in my Form Five class and the class monitor of my Form Three class. The Baby weighed 2.69kg at birth and isn't she the CUTEST LITTLE THING OMIGAWDITHINKMYMATERNALINSTINCTSGOINGHAYWIRE?

The Baby hasn't been named. Should I start an online naming poll?

toilet paper

I think the best indicator of how well a company is doing is its toilet paper. Parallel to Papa Whale's incessant complaints about business getting worse, so has the quality of our toilet paper. The current batch looks and feels like recyled and then re-recyled old grey toilet paper.

I'm not expecting Cutie Compact quality-lah, but at least buy back the previous brand? Treat our asses nicer and we'll work them off for you, ok?

I'm employed

Tuesday, March 13, 2007
When I read things like this I don't know if I should laugh or cry. That's why I don't read the papers or own a telly. I choose what I absorb into my system over the internet thank you very much.

The Tourism Minister Tunku Adnan lashed out that all bloggers on the Internet are liars, out of which 80% are unemployed women. "All bloggers are liars, they cheat people using all kinds of methods. From my understanding, out of 10,000 unemployed bloggers, 8,000 are women." (source in Chinese)

Oi, I am respectfully employed.

emo rocker

Saturday, March 10, 2007
I'm still having a fever. After 2 weeks, I still need my Muse fix every single day. I still have to look at their performance in KL again and again on Youtube. And every single day brings me closer to my interview at the British High Commission. If I get my WHM I'm going to be one step closer to the UK and Muse's concert at Wembley. And the Carling Music Festival in August. And Damien Rice in September.

If I get to go, I'll experience living in another country.
If I get to go, I'll have to learn to let go of a lot of things.
If I get to go, it's back to discovering life all over again.

If I get to go, I'll miss my favouritest boys in the world.

Attempting to make our own music is a very exhausting feat. That's why there're dozens of half-completed songs and hundreds of ideas not penned and recorded. Or maybe we're just plain lazy.

Muse aftermath

Tuesday, February 27, 2007
Muse opened with Knights of Cydonia, followed by Hysteria. YES! So very predictable. Hee hee. But so good. I was practically floating on cloud nine (until I watched Ethan's Hullabaloo DVD with their off-stage idiotic footage that killed all fantasies) throughout. On second thoughts, they were TOO good. No ripping off clothes, no spraying champagne at the audience, no smashing of instruments... Hmm. How come other concerts have these and we don't! Now I feel a bit deprived. Note to self: must go stalk their UK gigs when they're back from the world tour. Reading here I come!

Best song of the night has to be Plug In Baby. And I damn near cried when Invincible came on. My only regret? Not bringing the camera. My phone camera takes the lousiest shots. Nothing can be seen! NiamahaiKNNCCB! Thanks to Dee Dee, now I have at least some pictures to post. Also taken with someone's phone camera.

I so shouldn't have watched Hullabaloo's second DVD. Now I don't want Matt's baby anymore. Hahaha. But I guess what Si said is true, why would rebel teen wannabes idolise Muse if they were just "normal"? Nobody worships normalcy. Food for thought. But that DVD was done in 2001 when they're all just 22 or 23, and since then all of them have settled down considerably. No more crazy vids except on-stage madness!

They're still the best live rock act out there, no matter what. Matt's a talented devil bursting with inspiration and superb energy. And don't forget his magic fingers.

Their complete set list is here (with vids of every song on youtube!) ... *scream hysterically*

MUSE

Saturday, February 24, 2007
Faraway... this ship is taking me far away...

Yes, little boys and girls, uncles and aunties... MUSE IS FINALLY HERE. And tonight I'll be throwing my knickers at Matt Bellamy. With phone number, vital stats and all. *ecstatic*

In my dreams, Matt told me they're gonna open with either Knights of Cydonia or Hysteria. We shall see.

I just hope nothing screws up the logistics on my side.

I can't sleep.

valentine

Wednesday, February 14, 2007
Since I'm blogging on this date at this hour, it's pretty safe to deduce that yes, I'm single, I'm dateless and the icing on the cake is... I'm sick. Not that I care much for not being able to go out today, I don't want to be sick when Chinese New Year comes! (note to self: must RESIST no matter how many mandarin oranges beg to be eaten) Think about the glorious food and cookies and chocolates! And the heat! Chinese New Year is always the hottest time of the year. And staying near the beach doesn't help it at all, nope. Every year, at my grandma's, I couldn't lift a hand to swat away a fly by 2pm, lying in a pool of my own sweat, hoping that glueing my back to the cold marble floor would cool my body somewhat but the heat always wins.

Anyway, Eryn is coming over later tonight after her karaoke session for a sleepover. And Jarod is coming over too after his singles party. I'll be having a man and a woman. In my bedroom. All's good.

And my hair's back to black again. I hope people would stop asking why. I joke and create nonsense reasons, but actually... it's for Nido. One month, dear brother. I can't keep on wearing black during Chinese New Year like I did for the past one month (my grandma would have a cardiac arrest if I dare be so inauspicious) but nobody can say black hair is not festive, right? I miss you, whatever region or country you're traveling right now.

I will be fine. The sun will still shine.
Just a little bit colder, that's all.
I grow a little bit older, that's all.

out of beta?

Friday, February 09, 2007
Blogger is now out of beta my ass. Out of service more like it. To me, at least. I couldn't log in for the past 2 weeks! Now that I can finally I don't know where to start already. Bummer. Sure incoherent disjointed entries all come out. But joy! My home modem is up and running again, after I discussed with my baby brother to replace the dratted unpredictable thing. And out of fear, she ran with such speed last night! My downloads were at 36kbs! No, seriously. It's usually at 5kbs tops.

Now you see the reason why I want to move out of the country.

damien rice

Thursday, January 25, 2007
Damien Rice is the real shits, people. Coupled with Lisa Hannigan they breathe life into hypnotising magical music. I thought Cannonball and Cold Water were the best painfully arresting masterpieces ever and nothing could top them, but his new ones, 9 Crimes and Rootless Tree, will totally haunt me for the rest of my life.

What's the adjective beyond suicidal loss-for-words beautiful?
Damien Rice I want to have your baby.
Sing to me sing to me sing to me sing to me.

moving moving on

Saturday, January 20, 2007
Was just thinking about what to do for the weekend when I bumped into Andy The Senior Interior Designer online. And bless his soul, he reminded me that he still owes me a meal. Free food, whoa! I couldn't shower and leave my room soon enough. It'd be nice to catch up with someone who doesn't know what I've just gone through because, seriously, I'm done with the awkward pat on the back or shoulder rub and careful "how're you feeling now" in hushed gravity. It's a great feeling to know that so many people around me care, but it seems like nobody really knows how to handle the death of the friend of a friend. Tough for caring buddies to address the situation, tough for me to respond to their attempts.

I've been a wreck for the past week. Thank you all who braved my unsual quietness and expressionless face to give me an encouraging smile. I'm done mourning. It'll be what Nido wants for his loved ones anyway. And I've decided not to fly to Taiwan.

Moving on.

Lunch with Andy at my favourite pizza place in The Curve. Their chicken pepperoni pesto pizza is my personal recommendation. Some say it's kinda tasteless but that's how I like it. Andy's spicy bacon spaghetti isn't too bad either, but a tad too oily for me. As usual, Andy was very, very shy and quiet. And doesn't know I took his pictures.

Starbucks at Borders. It's lovely how we can just bring books or magazines over to the table for a free read. The couch was really cosy but I couldn't concentrate on relaxing because I kept kicking and loosening the electrical socket beside the table! And drew irritated glances from notebook users who're plugged in!

seize the day

Wednesday, January 17, 2007
Seize the day or die regretting the time you lost
It's empty and cold without you here, too many people to ache over

I see my vision burn, I feel my memories fade with time
But I'm too young to worry
These streets we travel on will undergo our same lost past

I found you here, now please just stay for a while
I can move on with you around
I hand you my mortal life, but will it be forever?
I'd do anything for a smile, holding you 'til our time is done
We both know the day will come, but I don't want to leave you

Newborn life replacing all of us, changing this fable we live in
No longer needed here so where do we go?
Will you take a journey tonight, follow me past the walls of death?
But what if there is no eternal life?

I see my vision burn, I feel my memories fade with time
But I'm too young to worry
A melody, a memory, or just one picture

Trials in life, questions of us existing here
Don't wanna die alone without you here
Please tell me what we have is real

Silence you lost me, no chance for one more day
I stand here alone
Falling away from you, no chance to get back home

No chance to hear your voice or hold your hand.
No chance for you to nag me not to drink so much coffee.
No chance to see your writing on personalised cards.
You taught me the joys of backpacking, yet left me to do it alone.
It's not fair. It really isn't.
I still have so many questions.

take me away - avril lavigne

Monday, January 15, 2007
I cannot find a way to describe it
It's there inside; all I do is hide
I wish that it would just go away
What would you do, you do, if you knew
What would you do

All the pain I thought I knew
All the thoughts lead back to you
Back to what was never said
Back and forth inside my head
I can't handle this confusion
I'm unable; come and take me away

I feel like I am all alone
All by myself I need to get around this
My words are cold, I don't want them to hurt you
If I show you, I don't think you'd understand
Cause no one understands

I'm going nowhere
I'm getting nowhere
Take me away
I'm going nowhere

Take me away
Break me away
Take me away

oh God WHY

Saturday, January 13, 2007
I was still sleeping when the phone call came.
I can't believe it.
I can't believe my godbrother died in a car accident.
I don't want to believe it.

Nido, you always say you don't understand my blog in English.
So this is for you.

churrasco

Wednesday, January 10, 2007
Last night I brought the band (plus one significant other) out for some Brazilian barbeque at SDCC. I will definitely saw off my left foot with a rusty bread knife than to go again. I've been there 3 times in a month, and seriously, enough is enough. The food isn't that bad (love the fish and lamb) but the thought of shoving another piece of capsicum into my mouth gives me the dry heaves. Let's play pictionary since Multiply is still kickass slow.

The drummer loves corn. Not Korn but corn. Geez what a corny joke. No wonder his face like that.

Behold the magic fingers. Although not as nimble in scooping ice-cream compared to stroking guitar strings. Significant other blatantly refused to be featured.

Doesn't this being look like he's stepped straight out of a dreamy Japanese manga? He's an angel in real life too. Dependable. Mature. What are you girls waiting for? (aunties disallowed)

We got shooed from the restaurant right after 10. With still so much of the night left, everyone switched base camp to my house. Ok, room. And started reviewing recordings of our practice sessions. And this time, significant other was caught in the picture while trying to keep herself busy. I think she read all synopsis (10 times over?) on my Lost DVDs.

Then the "real" fun started. I learned how to play Uno (yayaya, laugh all you want) and the boys were rewarded with Vodka and Malibu cocktails (you think they'd come to my place for just a simple, innocent visit?) and they helped themselves with seconds and thirds until all my liquor gone. Gaaaaaaar. How am I supposed to practise now?!

And this is the consequence of greedy people who drink too much too fast. Muahahaha. I already got my sleeping bag out and ready, just in case. Luckily they could still drive home after resting for a bit.

long gone

Sunday, January 07, 2007
Has it been that long? HAS it? Oh gosh I haven't been able to log on to Blogger (I wonder how did Aragon manage to post something every other day or so) for ages! Yes yes I've learned my bitter lesson not to procrastinate. The first week I was too lazy to put up anything. About the trip back to my hometown with colleagues and some interesting incidents along the way. About watching Cicakman and actually enjoying it a wee bit. About the end-of-year company lunch at the office. About performing with the band for Christmas celebration at the church and then the community project a day later.

Then the earthquake messed up undersea cables in Taiwan and internet got paralysed. My connection's so slow I want to scrape out my eyeballs with a blunt, rusty spoon. Now I can't even post up pictures at Multiply or blog in plain text. I really wanted to. How on earth am I going to catch up on a whole month of happenings? The busiest, filled-with-activities month of the year at that. Even when internet's back up and I can start blogging again, I lost the excitement and mood to write about most stuff already. Who wants to hear about Christmas reports in February the next year? Gaaaarrgh.

Anyway, Blogger is back up for me, so at least, a little celebration. And the boys got tickets to Muse concert end of February! Woo hoo hoo! Muse is coming! Nobody stands in the way between Matt Bellamy and the ogress or risk getting run over by my trusty (deadly) little Lisa! Ooooh which reminds me, I gave Lisa a new year pressie slimming my wallet by RM581 - new tyres! She's pleased and doesn't fail to remind me so by shaking even harder while I'm driving.

Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

christmas is here

Tuesday, December 19, 2006
Christmas is just round the corner. Shopping malls, eateries, everywhere is oozing Christmassy cheer. But all I'm feeling is stress. Band performance, my little pet project, plans for the new year... they're eating me up.

The Christmas tree in the office is up! And I must say it looks DAMN good. Maybe it's because I love blue. Maybe it's because the previous deco sucked balls big time. Maybe it's because it is really damn good. I love it. It's the first ever Christmas tree I helped put up. Laugh and I'll kick you.

The church's drumset needs a lot a lot of tuning. Wait. Correction: the church definitely needs a new drumset. The current sounds like a set of plastic buckets.

Important performances call for major overhaul. Everyone dug deep into pockets and looped belts tighter to cough up dough for new strings. *cough the church needs a new bass amp cough*

Even a simple enhancement like changing guitar and bass strings got the whole band excited. That's teamwork. That's love. That's passion. Okay I shall stop it's sounding gay now. *cough the new bass amp waist-high enough already cough*

I sure hope my voice doesn't give out. Not with the boys so looking forward to showing off new strings and new skills. Aaaaah I'm stressed-lah!

flowers for the departed

Friday, December 15, 2006
Nothing like the occasional flowers to brighten up one's day. I know I tell everyone I'm allergic to 'em, but the right ones secretly make me smile. Thanks, Kay. For everything. You have exquisite taste, I learned tonnes from you and I shall always be grateful for that.

On a lighter note, it's FRIDAAAAAAAAY! *punch air in ecstasy* This week passed like an arrow, and next week... next week... IS CHRISTMAS ALREADY.

Ah bugger. My heart sinks whenever I think of Christmas. So so wrong. But the thought of our impending half-bucket performance and the band members' reluctance to meet up for practice... how to cheer up? So so screwed.

battle of the bands

Thursday, December 14, 2006
Friday was Battle of the Bands day. I was at the movies when it began, but luckily I managed to catch the final few bands' performances. The crowd was so-so, due to the heavy downpour and undying drizzle... but the biggest disappointment was the winner announcement.

WHO THE EFF WERE THE JUDGES??! Managing director of a canned-drink company? Were there even REAL musicians judging the show? Grrrrrrrrr. I'm upset.

nature vs human

Wednesday, December 13, 2006
Nature dictates everything to move toward a state of stability. If you lift something, gravity wants to take it back towards the ground. If you dry something when it is raining, it is going to get wet again. If you wet something, it is going to dry right back out.

It's different with people. When I move a step back, you move forward and step on my toe. When I ignore, you pull all kinds of stunts trying to get my attention. When I give in, you want to get more.

Somehow we miss the point of balance, however much we say we yearn for equilibrium. We are excited by chaos, however much we say we detest the fighting, the hurting. We are wired to be constantly (subconsciously?) needing situations to throw us off-balance, just to strive all over to find that balance again.

But after some time, it gets tiring. Who's wrong, who's right doesn't seem important anymore. Finding the answers to who gave more, who took more, who should give more now because of not giving enough before... such a waste of time. I'm tired.

No more. Everything else will just have to balance themselves on the ground where I stand.

theresa's farewell

Tuesday, December 05, 2006
Friday night was Theresa's farewell party at Bernard's. Actually I was a bit surprised she invited me. After all, we'd never worked together before, and having lunch twice doesn't really constitute friendship in my dictionary. But bless her soul, Theresa's such an infectiously cheery person that one cannot help but be magnetised by her. She's a sugar bomb-lah. I think me being close to her best friend Boo is an added advantage to get my ass invited to a free makan session also.

I didn't know half the people there. Was seated next to someone the whole night and I didn't manage to get her name. Shame-lah my social skill. But I can name every dish that was served that night. Aiyah, I'm a food person-ma, not exactly people-person.

pathfinders

Friday, December 01, 2006
Practice for Christmas performances are underway. Although it's more difficult than climbing Mount KK barefoot sans torchlight and water to gather everybody in the band to be at the same place, same time, same mood... we try to have fun while doing it. Well at least I do. It's more positive than worrying my head off the slow progress we're making. Goal has changed from Rock Uncles' Socks Off to Don't Make Floundering Fools Of Ourselves (or make anyone up there in heaven wince).

Jonesy and Ian doing their stuff. They're often more animated during jam sessions than performance. And yes, they're very shy. So engrossed don't want to look at camera. But they're very, very talented oiii. Jonesy is single. Takers? Bassist = magic fingers! BONUS: Band Leader = mature + responsible!

James doing his stuff involving hitting on more stuff with sticks. James writes Chinese songs. And is newly single. Takers? Drummer = strong legs + great stamina!

This studio is nice, complete with everything we need. But we don't really feel comfortable. I is very conscious about other people lurking outside the room. I no likes the way my voice sounds here. And of course, there's the incident when the room door suddenly opened and closed by itself. But! We shall leave that for another day, because...

... I'm in this picture (sweaty and tired from servicing the boys... snapping pictures)! I think my photography angle rocks. All flaws are attributed to the low-end camera I'm using and cacat lighting. But my skills are unquestionably god-like. So never question. Ever.

firewall

Wednesday, November 29, 2006
I think the management may have banned all pc-users from logging on to MSN Messenger. This is so sad. I'm losing motivation to work. Already the studio's like a graveyard, now we can't keep ourselves sane by talking to "friends" (but due to political reasons cannot be seen as too chummy in public) in the office, or friends from the outside world. Yesterday was the first trial of a day at work without Messenger and already there was a low steady drone of bewilderment and dissatisfaction. Today, speculations are flying.

"Did the company firewall us?"
"I saw this IT guy coming to fix the server... maybe it's him!"
"Why why why why why..."

But all Mac users can still go online. That's right.
This I don't know how to rationalise also.

What a pity. I used to be able to brainstorm with folks from the sister company next door over the net. Now we have to call each other. I used to be able ask my friends outside to help with simple translations. Now the company has to pay for a 5-word sentence translation. Makes perfect sense.

Of course I have to look at things from the other point of view. Was I exploiting my privilege? Has it interfered with my work? I don't know, I do deliver my work on time... quality-wise, it's very subjective, innit? Ah well. Maybe we'll all get over this after a while. Maybe some will cite this as a reason to leave, haha. But one thing's for sure... the graveyard just got darker and colder without occasional cheer-up messages and snarky-funny comments from colleagues and friends.

Fuck, this mushy-whiny shit is pathetic. I don't even know if the company really firewalled us in or something's fucked up with MSN in general. I need a sex life.

lazy sunday

Monday, November 27, 2006
Lazy weekends are the best. Of course mine would be better if I wasn't sporting a skull-cracking eyeball-popping headache, but hey... beggars can't be choosers. I'm a tad worried about my horrible headache. Could it be from my mini-fridge in the room? My computer that's never turned off no matter what? Some microscopic fungus releasing pores from the ceiling (hey I had that in my old house)? Or just some plain old virus combined with the crappy weather?

I must be watching too much CSI.

Anyway, highlight of the weekend is my lazy Sunday lunch at Zipangu. Does appetite diminishes with age? Or am I finally graduating from the school of urbanite? Nowadays I can't seem to eat as much as I could at buffets. Daaaamn. My inner small-town Chinese self is groaning at the wastefulness. I only had ONE helping of everything! How can!

More yummylicious pictures here.

epitath

Thursday, November 23, 2006

What does your epitath say? Find out at QuizGalaxy.com

Awwwwww.
Here's a big sorry to the boys of my rock band.
Here's another big sorry to the 27 men waiting in line for their turns after my 56th.
Muahahahahahahaha.

angels & demons

I vomited a little in my mouth. I swallowed because I have to walk 20 steps to the toilet. What's 20 steps you may think. Well you are not bleeding heavily from your nether region.

Anyway the bile tasted bitter and sour. Hmmph at least that's still normal. Me only eating a few spoonfuls of porridge for lunch wasn't.

This super-heavy-a-month, almost-nothing-the-next period cycle is really getting on my nerves (and my poor stomache). Someone, for the love of mankind, please drag me to the gynae after my period's over. Because I'm 2 years overdue for my check-up. And the best time to get a clear ultrasound is right after the period.

Am supposed to give someone Angels & Demons. But when I was flipping through the first few pages to find some space and write a personal message... I somehow ended up reading a bit of the story just to refresh my memory... and then I read some more. And then I decided to finish the book before giving it away. So if someone receives the book in slightly dog-eared condition, have comfort in the knowledge that I really, really like and recommend the book. Better than Da Vinci Code. You're welcome.

summer bliss

Monday, November 20, 2006
2 weeks ago, I went for the Summer Bliss garden party at Valencia.

The homes there are nice. In a not-gonna-afford-it-unless-I-marry-a-102-year-old-tycoon way. Siiiiigh. I don't have Anna Nicole's jugs.

I went on an empty stomache. Luckily they didn't just serve pastries (tasting like nothing else but dough and sugar) like the last party. I had spaghetti, potato salad, mini lamb chops, fried chicken, fish fillets, chocolate cake (hard like rock, man) and bread pudding. They had really funky-looking young magicians walking around showing people their, ya'know, wares. Too bad the audience were either too shy to respond warmly or too engrossed in their food (like me) to pay them much attention.

There was a jazz singer and a swooning pianist. I was devilishly trying to catch her accidentally stepping on one of them furry rabbitses. There were so many bunnies clamoured around the pianist's chair and the lightbox. Lightbox I can understand, it's warm. Pianist chair? For what? Enchanted by the tinkling musical notes?

Suddenly the loudspeaker gave a loud squawk. And all the bunnies around the piano jumped into the air in fright. It would've been a ROFL moment if I wasn't more concerned about their eardrums and bowel condition.

Then I saw her. OMG KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!

stress!

Friday, November 17, 2006
So stress can die. Work. Freelance work. Christmas performance. And my stubborn, defiant resolve to have a social life on top of all those.

Went for Bren-Bren's birthday gathering last night with my A-Levels classmates whom I haven't met for 8 years. Everyone seemed to have blossomed. Prettier, slimmer, successfuller... and on and on. For the past 8 years they've all kept in touch, except me. Luckily those sweethearts didn't make me feel like a leper at Shangri-La. 8 years didn't exactly melt away within that 3 hours (I think it's got something to do with the cool front I maintained during A-Levels... it's totally not me) but we had a good time. I suspect the bottle of wine loosened their inhibition somewhat. I had two sips and was ready to hurl my RM98++ dinner.

Rushed off to jamming session with the boys once Bren-Bren blew her birthday candles. Didn't even stay to savour the cheesecake. GAAAARRR! Then I was late by an hour because of the FUCKING unpredictable unbelievable traffic jam on Genting Klang. I just DETEST that stretch to the marrow. Luckily we had a rocking good session. And supper which I insisted on buying.

I don't know how long I can pull off these midnight oil-burners. Feel tired to the very core of my soul. Days and weeks zoom past. I really need some quality me-time. My room and car needs my loving attention also. Lisa hasn't been washed since a month ago and my toilet's starting to develop an interesting orange-hue ring.

Please leave me alone this weekend.

3 weeks

Tuesday, November 07, 2006
3 weekends. 2 wedding dinners. 1 passport-stamping trip. 0 weight lost.
3 weeks being absent from the gym. I think I only went once last month. All the membership money down the drain. But. Work and freelancing had been very time and energy consuming. I hadn't been well also. Excuses.
2 weeks of food-poisoning and indigestion. Haven't been consistent with medication. Pop pills when gastric pain gets acute. Maybe I'm indulging in the pain and vomitting a little. Maybe can lose some weight. Great time spent with colleagues, high school friends, college friends, new friends. Stopped smoking. Stopped writing songs. Still postponing a thorough health check-up including long-avoided gynae visits. Excuses.
1 month to Christmas. End of the year. End of being 27. 1 month to dish out songs with the band. 1 time a week when everyone can meet and practise. 1 reason I'm doing the performance - I love my band boys and I love music. Meaning of Christmas? Blurry and hazy. Excuses.
0 excuse for not blogging and posting pictures. So go to my Multiply page like my friends do.
